We didn't have these pictures on our 1st anniversary but I acquired a CD from our photographer a couple weeks after so here are my favorite pictures he captured from our wedding. I can't believe it's been a year already. God is good.
Sorry these aren't all I want to share. I'm still learning Picasa web albums and uploading to the blog. More will come later when I have more time.
Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life - in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing. - Phillipians 2:14-16

Better Life
Ah..the joys of a day off, finally getting caught up on all the things I need to do! Today that mostly meant cleaning our apartment - thoroughly overdue! And baking. I had the urge to bake cookies the last time we went grocery shopping so I got some chocolate chips and decided today is the day.
So I will sit here and blog to the lovely smells of chocolaty oatmeal cookies wafting through the kitchen.
This last week we had our first Financial Peace class at our church. I actually enjoyed it more then I thought I would. Whenever I think about budgeting and money management I tend to get overwhelmed and then feel like I'll never be able to do it. But the way it was presented in this course made it easier to handle. The first lesson was about baby steps - just what I need! The first thing we're supposed to do is save $1000 in an emergency fund and then not touch it in case of an emergency! I'll let you know how the following weeks go.
The other exciting news of the week was that I had an interview with the Hilton Garden Inn for a sales manager position. It's all very confusing but this hotel is managed by The Hotel Group - the same management company that managed HIE in Pullman and Courtyard where I currently am. So I feel like I am transitioning to all the hotels in THG's family. I feel the interview went well and I would enjoy the chance to challenge my skills and have more responsibility.
I have complained a lot about my current job since I took it for various reasons - not enough responsibility, bad hours, low pay, and rude guests mostly. But over the past few weeks, I have noticed that God has been changing my perspective. I felt I was stuck but I never really gave thanks that I had a job at all. Realizing through bits and pieces of good things at work that God did provide me with that job for a reason has helped me realize that my perspective is skewed. I think I am becoming more content with the fact that I have a job and work with good people. Besides, no job will ever be perfect. We just need to be thankful for what we have. It can be hard sometimes because we feel so deserving of more and better things. That attitude will only cause us to complain about those things we feel we don't deserve and God won't allow that for long. We (I especially) need to learn how to be patient and content with whatever situation we have been placed in no matter how uncomfortable we feel. It's about developing our character.

Back in the Saddle Again
Back to the world of blogging again. We finally got our new MacBook and have been surfing up a storm on the Internet - reading blogs, checking Facebook, uploading photos, and putting together I-Tunes playlists. It is so nice to have a computer again and this time we will have stringent rules about eating/drinking near the computer to avoid another milk bath incident. Much has happened since I last blogged so I will try to catch you up on the last month of our lives:
August 3rd-6th we got away to the Oregon Coast to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. Although the weather could have been better we had a good time. We even saw a whale in Depot Bay about 100 yards from the rock wall where we were sitting. It was our anniversary gift from God! :)
As soon as we got back from the beach we celebrated my mom's birthday with dinner out at Famous Dave's followed by cake at our apartment. It was our first party hosted at our apartment which was quite fun. We hope to have many more.
The day before my birthday we celebrated with our family at Casa Mia. Very good calzones! I'm having fun checking out restaurants in Tri-Cities. On my birthday we went to the Benton Franklin Fair & Rodeo. It was pretty fun although VERY crowded on the day we went. I don't know if I'll have enough stamina to take my own kids to the fair when I have them. It's just so much chaos. The best part of the fair was the rodeo in which we sat through a 5-minute downpour while watching barrel racing and got quite a kick out of the bull who wouldn't go back in the gate after he'd been ridden. At one point he actually laid down on the ground and wouldn't budge for anything. It was a good 15 minutes before they managed to literally drag him back in the pen.
August went by fast and before we knew it it was September. We went to visit Chris' aunt & uncle in Snohomish for Labor Day weekend. We saw a lot of family and even got to go sailing on Sunday afternoon for a couple hours. It was a very relaxing and fun trip. Sadly, while we were gone my mom's dog got hit by a car and didn't survive. She was pretty upset as anyone is when a close pet dies and I'm sorry that had to happen.
Finally, we picked up our wedding pictures last Tuesday! FINALLY! :) They look great and we're happy we were also able to get a CD of the images to have and share with friends or print off pictures in the future. Yeah!
Well, that you keep you busy reading for awhile. Until next time...........
