Applesauce Adventure

This last Friday I decided to be domestic! I loaded up my car with apples, finally found some canning jars, and made my way to my mother-in-laws house to embark upon an applesauce adventure.
It was quite fun and lots of work! We got sticky peeling, coring, and slicing apples and then once they were cooked down we had to strain them all through a food mill which took the longest time!
Once that part was done, add some sugar, put the mixture into hot jars, put the jars in the canning kettle and wait for it to boil.
The nicest sound was the jars sealing once they came out of the canning kettle. I was proud that we got 7 pints out of a 6 pint recipe. Next year maybe we'll go for 12! :)

6 Random Facts

Another fun post where you learn more about me. Linnea tagged me to do this so here goes:

First, the rules:
1. Post the rules on your blog.
2. Write six random things about yourself.
3. Tag six people at the end of your post
4. If you're tagged, just do it, and pass the tag along!

1. I love to sing really loud along with the radio/I-tunes/whatever when doing housework. It makes it more fun.

2. When I was little I used to like eating tortilla chips with mustard because I didn't like salsa.

3. Now I sometimes blend up the salsa in the food processor because I don't like the chunks!

4. Sometimes when I eat candy like M&Ms or Skittles I sort it into colors and eat all of the same color first ending with my favorite color. (i.e. eat all the
brown ones, then orange, then green, then red, then blue).

5. I still can't drive a stick-shift and I probably won't learn unless I have to start driving one. :(

6. As well as Linnea, I still haven't done anything to "preserve" my wedding dress either. I'm trying to find a good place to donate it to and still haven't decided. Any ideas?

I must like to eat since 3 out of the 6 random facts about me include food! :)

Ok, here we go. I'll tag
Adrienne, Staci, Cas, Matt, Kerri, and Allison. Have fun!

Balloon Rally

The Great Prosser Balloon Rally was held the last weekend of September. Chris & I drove down on Friday night after I got off of work and got up early to see the launch on Saturday morning. (well I did, Chris was sick.).
My family was there for that day and it was really fun to hang out with all my aunts and uncles and some cousins. The only disappointment was the Night Glow. They bring balloons in and then at dusk inflate them and light them up (hence the Glow part). But it was too windy so they just set up the baskets and fired up the propane. Kind of lame. I affectionately named it the "Redneck Night Glow". But we still had fun! Sorry for having to crane your head for some of the pictures. We don't have a photo program downloaded yet and I can't figure out how to rotate photos with Picasa.

Disappointment

Today I had my 3 month review at work. I did not really have any expectations for it but I ended up being disappointed in myself. I was really expecting a raise and I did not receive one. The main reason is that I received a "Satisfactory" marking in the category of personal involvement. They said that I seemed distracted at times from being fully involved in my work. Which is absolutely true! I have felt distracted at work the past few months because I'm to busy thinking about what's next, what I can move on to that will benefit me more. Me, me, me.
I'm disappointed because I feel like I failed them and I failed myself. Somehow my ego kept telling me that this was just a phase - I can do better then this job and this pay. When did I become so selfish? That's not the person I thought I was or the person I want to become. I want to live where I am, live everyday to my potential whether I'm at work or not. And when you work full-time that means you are at work most of your days. As I mentioned in a previous post, I have become thankful for my job but this was just confirming that I waited to long to be thankful. I should have been thankful from the first day and thrown myself into it without always daydreaming of bigger and better things. Because God put me there for a reason. I only hope that I can fulfill the purpose He has for me as long as He has me at the Marriott.
