Chris and I got back from Pullman yesterday afternoon. We had a great time! It was so good to get away for a couple of days, see a great basketball game, and be in Pullman again with friends & family.
We were so blessed especially by seeing good friends. We got to spend time with LaRena in Wastucna and I could have spent hours more talking to her while Chris napped! HaHa! We had fun at her house.
The most exciting thing for me was seeing just about all of our small group at the basketball game and they were sitting really close to us too. It was fun to catch up and hear how everyone was doing. We have really missed that group since moving from Pullman. What fun to see them again. :)
We also got to hang out with friends after the game at my relatives house. It was fun just to relax together and hang out over some delicious chocolate cake!
Good friends are so valuable to have and it seems as though I need to reminded to not take these relationships for granted. It takes time and work to invest in these friendships but it is so worth it.
Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life - in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing. - Phillipians 2:14-16

Grey, Gray Go Away
The weather is grey this week and we've only had one day of sunshine in the last two weeks. I'm feeling rather burnt out on this extension of winter. At least yesterday it rained. I always feel better when it's raining rather then when the sky is just overcast with clouds that block out the sunlight. Oh springtime and warmth, come soon.
In other news, I have a persistent gray hair that will not go away! I thought I was too young for these - don't they come from having children?? :) Well, my "baby" was Winter Conference 2006. My gray hair appeared in January after conference. At first it was small and blended right in. But now it has experienced a growth spurt and no matter how many times I pluck it out it always comes right back a few days later. I suppose it's time to do something about it and my hair in general.
I'm in dire need of a haircut and a new hairstyle. My hair has been put through the ringer moving 3 times in the past 2 years. It always takes a while to adjust to each climate and I think it's just confused now! I haven't ever dyed my hair but now I'm seriously considering it - or at least getting highlights. It's time for a change.

A Happy Day Is...
Weather warm enough to open the slider and let the fresh air in plus a chocolate shake from Sonic! What a great afternoon.
Valentine's Day
Our Valentine's Day was spent at church. We had a romantic candlelight dinner to raise money for sending a missions team to EA over spring break.
I had asked for the day off so I could be sure and help with the dinner so we got there around 3PM to start decorating. It turned out really nice - it looked like we were setting up for a wedding reception!
The dinner was delicious - we had yummy salad, homemade Italian wedding soup, rolls donated by a local restaurant, homemade lasagna, and finally cheesecake & strawberries! All that with sparkling cider too. Yummy!!
There was also live music and a silent auction. I couldn't believe how much was donated for the silent auction. They had everything from homemade pies, romance baskets filled with candles, candy, even wine, and a quilt too. Wow. The dinner was a huge success and it was a great way to spend Valentine's Day and raise money for a great cause.

Celebration!
Chris has a job! Yay! Hallelujah! We are both so excited and relieved. He received a job offer from Syngenta Seed Company about a week and a half ago and was waiting to accept it until he heard from Pioneer Seed Company on Connell.
Pioneer decided to go with another applicant and so Chris sent back all his paperwork for Syngenta and will start on March 16th. He will have two weeks of training and then start working full-time at their new plant in Pasco.
Thank you for all your prayers and support since November (when he was first jobless). It's amazing to look back and see how the Lord has carried us through financially and encouraged us spiritually to keep pushing ahead. We are both definitely excited for Chris' "extended weekend" to be over!

Bits & Pieces
I realize I have not posted in quite awhile so here are some tidbits of what's been happening in our neck of the woods:
Will you be my Neighbor?
Last week we lost our neighbor directly across from us. So that means that we have no next-door neighbor, no upstairs neighbor, and mostly no neighbor upstairs and next-door because he isn't home enough to constitute living there. He's either on a work trip or playing golf. We overheard from some maintenance guys that our apartment complex has lost over 30 people this past month. HHMM...maybe it's time to lower rent! I vote in favor.
The Diamond Cut Shredder of Doom
I've been going through a spring cleaning phase early this year and wanted to shred a bunch of papers and stuff we don't need anymore. We borrowed my parents shredder and then my mom told us there were shredders on sale at Target and offered to get us one. We went with the $30 model a nice black diamond cut shredder with a shredder for CDs even. Well, it only lasted about 5 days before I broke it by sticking an envelope through that was too fat. I reversed it and pulled it out but the damage had been done. It had started to bend some of the teeth. Now every time you stick a paper through it automatically gets wrapped around the teeth and the shredder starts smoking. Buyers beware!
The Smell of Coconuts.
My parents took us out to dinner at Red Lobster last week because I was craving their new tropical seafood dishes. I had the Hawaiian Shrimp and Salmon. It was actually coconut shrimp and I almost couldn't eat it because every time I smelled it, the coconut smell reminded me of sunscreen. It's been aptly renamed as "Sunscreen Shrimp". Delicious.

Celebration
This weekend we celebrated Chris' parents 25th wedding anniversary. We had a party for them and lots of family and friends were able to come. We had a good time and I think they both really enjoyed the party. Here are some pictures of the event:
1. My mom & my cousin Laura's son Nathaniel.
2. Chris & I with his sister Jenny her husband and kids.
3. Cutting the cake.
4. Happy 25th Anniversary! Congratulations.
