Life Updates

Sorry for my short hiatus on blog posting recently. I've been waiting to hear some things before posting. Here are some quick life updates with longer posts to come later.

1. We're going skiing next week! If we remember how. Chris is very excited for this trip. We weren't sure if I was going to get the time off since we had an employee leave at work but I was and we are headed to Mt. Baker for 2 days of skiing - if there is enough snow. :)

2. Keep Chris in your prayers about job opportunities. There is a opening for a viticulture tech position with the wine company he interned with before being laid off and moving to his current position at Syngenta. I hope he gets it! I know he would love it - minus the back-breaking 4 wheeling part. But he would work with wine grapes, be outside, and get a great discount on wine. :)

3. I did not get the Director of Sales at the hotel. But I am ok with that and I am glad I applied. I would have regretted not getting the chance to interview for it. Basically, it came down to the fact that I do not have direct sales experience and we (as a hotel) are so busy right now that we need someone who has experience and can make a smooth transition and handle all the business. Right now, I'm not sure I will continue to look for other jobs but I will blog more on that later.

4. We got our passport photos taken today for Chris to get his and me to renew mine with my married name. This has to do with our vacation planning for this year. More on that later too.

5. Tinkerbell is doing well. She loves going for walks, has discovered a tennis ball is her new favorite toy and had fun chasing our friends Chihuahua around their house the other night. It's funny to me how much she loves other dogs but is still shy around people. We just plan to keep exposing her as much as we can to people and dogs and show her that she can trust people too.

TGIF - Big Time!

I am so glad it is Friday! This has been a long week but there are only 8 hours of work left and then it is over. Yay.

Goodness is....Chris working his new hours that allow us to see each other more.

Goodness is....have great co-workers that make up for the sometimes less then great guests.

Goodness is....starting to plan a great vacation for this year! More details to come.

Goodness is....going shopping tomorrow to use gift cards received for Christmas! I have not bought clothes for myself in quite a while.

Goodness is....finally getting the Christmas decorations put back in storage and getting rid of the Christmas tree. It was living on our porch.

Goodness is....the sunshine, even if it is rather sporadic.

Goodness is....a great weekend full of fun, relaxation, and church. We love Crossview.

Seriously...

This is a two part blog post. The first part:
Travel Tip #854
When making a reservation, be sure to remember you actually made a reservation.

Example (from an actual conversation I had tonight):
Me: Thank you for calling the Courtyard. How can I help you?
Guest: I'm just calling because I made a reservation but I need to confirm that I actually made a reservation.
Me: (not sure how to respond) Umm, Ok. When you called did we give you a confirmation number for a reservation?
Guest: Yes, but I have no idea where I put it.
Me: (In my head: Well, don't you think a if we gave you one you have a reservation, even if you can't find it). Ok, well what's your last name.
Guest: Oliver*
Me: Ok, it says here you are staying April 4th-April 7th. So you did make the reservation!
Guest: Good! Ok, what date am I arriving?

Seriously? Unless you have short term memory issues you really should remember that you made a hotel reservation and what date it is for. Especially if it's for your child's soccer tournament!

*Name changed to protect the ridiculous.

Part Two:
Neighborly Tip #5
Although you may be broke and gas prices may be high you should not siphon gas from your neighbors. It doesn't sit well.

Seriously? Someone siphoned Chris' gas last night. Right after he filled up. And this is the second time it has happened. Our apartment complex doesn't seem to care so he bought a locking gas cap. I'm just glad we had the money for him to fill up again, unlike the neighbor who will be disappointed next time he tries that trick.
