Goodness is......a 4 day weekend! Woot Woot!
Goodness is......watching old episodes of Gilmore Girls online. I really love that show.
Goodness is......getting to see my husband every night this week!
Goodness is......the rain I suppose. It does provide moisture which is good.
Goodness is......church this weekend since I couldn't be there last weekend.
Goodness is......the Farmer's Market. Going for the first time tomorrow.
Goodness is......receiving a gift certificate for new clothes form a co-worker. Very sweet.
Goodness is......learning a lot in my new position and getting to be behind the scenes.
Goodness is......getting to meet a friends' new baby today! So excited.
Goodness is......driving by a potential rental house this weekend.
Goodness is......remembering all those who served this Memorial Day.
Goodness is......God's love which he continually shows me every day.
Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life - in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing. - Phillipians 2:14-16

Catching Up...
It has been a busy week and weekend! I just now noticed that I hadn't posted since last Saturday and announcing my job.
Well, I dived right in. This past week I have been working at the front desk but also training for my new accounting position.
There is a lot to learn. Accounts payable, accounts receivable, labor analysis, breaking down the daily report of the hotel (revenue numbers) and more! It's been a little bit overwhelming having so much to learn but I think I will enjoy this new position and being able to interact more with the manger team. It will be fun to interact with customers of the hotel as well - as I am responsible for paying their bills and collecting on debts they owe us!
I have to be honest too and say that I am also looking forward to a little bit of a break from the business of the front desk and some of the guests. They have been a little cranky this past couple of weeks. I blame it on the weather.....every day is different. Rain, wind, sun - we never know what will happen. Or else a full moon. People are often stranger before a full moon.
Chris and I both worked this weekend too. He had today off but I was at work. I am greatly looking forward to next weekend and some time to catch up around the house.
Right now we are getting ready to watch the season and series finale of LOST! I can't believe it's over. We have been watching together since Season 4 and I started watching Season 3 when I was in Portland. I was a little skeptical at first but the show has only improved over time. The theme of redemption and parallels of spirituality are really interesting and it really has become a captivating show - if you can put aside some of the craziness! But we truly are LOST fans now and looking forward to see how it ends.
Hope your weekend was wonderful.

New Job!
Thank you for all your prayers and encouragement! I finally have a new job after a couple weeks of waiting to hear.
My new position will be the Accounting Manager at the Courtyard. This is a step up from the front desk and includes more pay and better hours.
I will be responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable as well as learning the accounting computer software we have in place. I will also do mini-projects for other managers and help out where I can.
I am very excited for this position. I already started training last night when I was at work and it felt a little overwhelming but I will have lots of help as the former accounting manger will be right across from my desk. She moved up to the front desk manager and I'm so glad she will still be there to help me and answer my questions.
This new opportunity is very excited and I am so glad to finally be working ALL DAYS and have ALL WEEKENDS off! YAY! So glad I can plan on doing things with friends and hanging out with my husband more. Praise God for this great job!

Creative Kitchen Tip
This past Thursday I went to the Taste of Home cooking school held at the TRAC facility in Pasco. I went with my mom, mother-in-law, and another lady visiting my MIL from Texas.
At the cooking school, they basically demonstrate 7-8 recipes featured in the Taste of Home magazine, give kitchen tips, and give away a lot of great door prizes. There were also local vendors there and local restaurants selling their food. Plus you get a goody bag just for coming with lots of fun coupons and recipes.
My favorite kitchen tip from the night:
If you don't have a salad spinner don't fear! You can still dry your fresh lettuce. Just wash it, shake out the excess water, and put it in a clean pillowcase! Then twirl the pillowcase around your head and the fabric will soak up the excess moisture from the lettuce. You end up with clean rinsed lettuce and a wet pillowcase. And probably some crazy looks from your family. But doesn't it sound like fun. :)

Mothers Day
Just wanted to share our adventures from Mother's Day 2010. We had a great time and I've been meaning to post this all week but I didn't have the patience for these pictures to download!
We had a great day celebrating our moms. Chris' parents hosted a BBQ for us, my parents & grandma, their friends and neighbors the Morton family as well as their friends visiting from Texas. All together there were 23 people and 3 dogs there!

The weather was beautiful so after eating we sat around talking enjoying the sunshine while the kids rode their bikes, played Frisbee and badminton and teased the dogs!! It was just a great day to celebrate Mother's Day and I enjoyed being photographer for the day.

What a great way to kick off May! I hope all your mothers out there had a great day too.

Sweet Friendships
I've had the chance to spend lots of time with friends this week. It's always a blessing to me to see people during the week since most of our social life happens on the weekends. I realize what a blessing it is to see people during the week - whether for coffee, bible study, or a midday walk.
Most people are unavailable because of work or other commitments happening during the day. I've been so lucky to have this time available while working evening shifts or having days off in the middle of the week. It's especially sweet during the summer when more people have time off! (i.e. all my teacher friends)
With my job changing soon it will mean that my hour will also probably be changing too and I won't have as many opportunities to connect with friends during the week.
So I'm not sure if it's because my job hours might be changing or it's just the sweetness of these friendships this week but I'm very thankful and hope to take advantage of those extra opportunities to connect while I still have the time too.

The Weekend of Nothing
Ok so it wasn't really nothing except for Saturday. But Saturday was very relaxing and just what we needed. We slept in, I went for a jog with Tinkerbell then after breakfast and some chores around the house we took a nap!! The only time we left the house Saturday was to go to church Saturday evening.
As always it was great. Our friend Lauren was visiting and got to share about her life and missionary work at the service. It was neat to see her do that and see her get to meet new people. She was in town since Tuesday and got to share at some of our church's small groups as well. I got to hang out with her a couple times and it was fun to reconnect and feel like we picked up right where we left off the last time we had seen each other.
Tonight we just got back from watching "How to Train your Dragon" in 3D. It was a great movie and really cool in 3D. Another great film to add to the collection.
I'm looking forward to hopefully hearing about my job situation at work this week and seeing family & friends. My goal is also to walk/jog with Tinkerbell every day this week! No skipping out. She needs it and so do I!

Amazing Video
Our pastor shared this video in church on Saturday night. God really works in amazing ways to bring glory to his name. It definitely has a powerful ending.
