Friday Update

Well now that it's Friday again I thought it was about time to write a post about last weekend! I've sat down to write a few times this week but always have been distracted, mostly by our dog. She loves to go outside during this summer weather.

And it has been summer weather. True to the Tri-Cities last weekend it was over 100 during the hydroplane boat races on the river. We went out and sat above Columbia Park on Canal Drive. You can sit up there for free and have a birds eye view of all the action in the park (minus the drunk people milling around). We went on Sunday for the air show and some of the races. It was H-O-T!

The air show was really cool with an F-16, F-18 as well as some stunt planes. I've never understood the boat races though. It's sort of like NASCAR on the water. Hard to tell where the start is and when the end happens because they do warm up laps before the actual race. Like I told Chris - I enjoy sports I can understand and I just don't understand the boat races.

But one thing I did enjoy was our camera! Chris got lots of great pictures of the planes in action as well as the hydros. Such as these:

This weekend we are headed down to Prosser to visit some friends & family on Sunday. Saturday Chris works so I am hoping to hang out with friends if they aren't busy. Maybe at the pool. :)

Have a great weekend!

Favorite!

My favorite picture from this last weekend in Portland and one of my favorite subjects to photograph.

Faithful Reader

This post is dedicated to my most faithful reader - my Aunt Emma! She told me this weekend she checks my blog every day and as a result has also kept up with a lot of my friends blogs who I have linked on my sidebar.

I was excited to hear she reads so faithfully. When you blog, sometimes you aren't sure who's reading it and if they like it or not. It's good to hear that someone does.

The reason I talked to her about blogging was that I saw her in Portland this past weekend at her "Celebration of Life" party! It was a great event celebrating the fact she is cancer free and also done with teaching. There are some great adventures that lie ahead for her.

The party was held at her friends home with a great number of her family and friends in attendance. It was a great time. The house was beautiful, the food was good, and the company as even better. I took along my camera to take pictures for her and will get a few up here on the blog later after I edit them.

I also had a great time catching up with a couple friends in Portland while I was there. I wish I could have stayed longer. I also wish Chris could have come but he was busy working on Saturday so we are already planning another trip in the fall when he can tag along.

Thanks for reading Aunt Emma! I love you a lot and was so glad to celebrate with you this past weekend.

Friday Laughs

Apparently, there is an I=phone app called "Talking Carl" who repeats what you say at a higher volume. And apparently this is what happens when you put two Carls next to each other! It's quite funny but turn your volume down a little bit because it does get loud.

I Love Weddings

We just went to another great wedding this past weekend. Weddings are so much fun. It's one of my favorite events to go too because you usually see great friends and family, eat good food and get to go to a great party prepared for your enjoyment!

Over the years of going to lots of weddings Chris and I have seen some fun ways the bride & groom entered/left the reception. We have seen plenty of fancy cars, lots of regular decorated cars, even a boat and a tractor. But this weekend we saw the best one. A GRAPE HARVESTER!

True to the groom's future profession the couple rode in to their reception on a grape harvester. How fun is that. Very creative that's for sure. And a fun way to start the reception which, of course, was held at a beautiful winery!

4th of July

We practiced taking firework pictures with our Nikon camera this year. It really would have helped to have a tripod but I think we got a few good ones! Here are my favorites.

Blah

Sorry for the lack of blogging recently. I have been feeling blah. And it's summertime. Not a great time of year to feel this way. Although not any time of year is good to feel this way.

I think I may be coming off the high we had a few months ago with Chris' new job and then my promotion to my new job. Without realizing it I had expectations that just cannot be met and then I feel disappointed when they aren't met.

My job has been more of a learning curve then I expected. There have just been a couple of rough patches and it's hard for me not to get discouraged. I tend to be a perfectionist and so I let it bother me more then I should when I make a mistake. I know I will get better with time but it's harder to fix accounting mistakes then front desk mistakes!

I also didn't realize just how busy Chis would be with his new job. I have complained about it a lot and realized that I shouldn't. He loves what he does and he works long hours because he knows it will pay off. Plus I'm thankful that I am home in the evenings and do get to to see him even if it's only for a couple of hours.

It's hard seeing our friends take vacations too knowing we can't go anywhere because of Chris working Saturdays but I have to just keep Germany in mind. I can't wait until fall!

Church and small group have been really important to me during this time because I know I nee to lean on God the most. It's when I feel down that I need Him more but it always takes me a little time to realize that.

Thank you Lord for always taking care of me.
