Date Night

Our church and the small group we attend have been going through a book called 'Real Marriage' by Mark & Grace Driscoll. It's a really good book and I recommend it to anyone who needs a fresh perspective on marriage and all that it entails. Part of our small group includes going through a participant's guide and doing homework together discussing what you have earned from that particular chapter. There are also experience sections where you do different activities together. This week the homework was to go on a date. Now it's not like we don't go on dates but this was intentional because we were assigned to try something new we always wanted to do or do something we really enjoy doing together. Chris and I thought about going to dinner and a movie but there weren't any movies we were to excited to see together - then I remembered Avengers was coming out. Well we decided to something we enjoy even more - kayaking!!! Columbia Kayak Adventures is open on Sundays and rents kayaks so it was perfect. It was still a bit chilly today but the sun came out and it was beautiful on the water. Our rental included wetsuits so it was nice to not have cold legs. We started out at Howard Amon Park and paddled up to Leslie Groves going upstream. Boy it was tough at times and if you stopped paddling to long the current started taking you back. Overall it took us about two hours. It's just to bad we can't have this kind of date every weekend!
