Where Have I Been?

Working and then coming home and working some more taking care of little Benjamin! A fun job but pretty tired. It is hard to believe that Ben is almost 6 months old. Time has flown by and we are so blessed by him.

I've been reading about Baby Led Weaning as a way to start solid foods and I'm excited to start trying it. So far he's just sucked on a few pieces of watermelon and rice crackers but he is very interested in what we eat when he's awake and is at the stage of grabbing everything and putting it in his mouth.

He is also getting bigger! 12 lbs 1 oz and his last weight check and only a week until his 6 month checkup to see how long he is. Doubled his birth weight!

The only hiccup we are experiencing is that he is enjoying bottles more and more these days which lessens how much and how well he breastfeeds. I am really hoping to breastfeed for a year but it might be more like me pumping and him drinking breastmilk bottles. He gets breastmilk bottles during the day and I pump at night but right now he has stopped breastfeeding in the evening unless he's really sleepy before bed. It has been hard but I'm still working with him and not giving up yet.

Here are some pictures of the little guy enjoying a rice cracker - more of it ended up on his clothes then his mouth but he had fun!

I love that our babies are the same age by hours :)

I like the Baby Led Weaning mostly because I do not have time or money to make/buy special food. Just give her some of ours and monitor. So far so great! Messy, but great.

She loves sucking on pear slices, romaine lettuce leaves, gnawing on a celery stick, sucking a rice cracker, etc. She tried mango and was not a fan, nor avocado for that matter...

Good to know! I want to steam some carrots and have him try those and avocado. Did it take her long to figure out eating and swallowing? Choking possibility makes me nervous but I'm sure he'll be fine. Hope our babies can meet someday.
