A Happy Ending

Last night was kind of crazy at work. We weren't too busy but there was one reservation that was completely crazy. We basically didn't have a reservation for the guy but he had a confirmation number for a reservation of a different guy with the same last name and the same check-in date. Really strange. I don't know if we'll ever figure out what happened.

Well it turns out the guy who had the same last name and actually stayed in the hotel was there for a very special reason. A couple hours after he and his girlfriend checked in, she came back down to the desk to talk to us. I was in the back office and I just heard a snippet of the conversation. I heard her say "Look what happened to me on your balcony..." Oh no! I thought she had hurt herself or something - I just imagined the worst.

So I quickly walked out front to talk to my co-worker and see what was wrong. Well, to my surprise, it turns out that "what happened" to her is that she got engaged!! Her boyfriend proposed on our balcony and she had a beautiful ring that she was showing off to us. It was a pretty sweet story. They were an older couple who had been dating about a year and a half.

I don't think anything like that has every happened at work before. We've had plenty of people stay on their wedding night or to celebrate an anniversary but never had anyone get engaged! It was a happy ending to a crazy night.
