We have big news at our house this week: Chris has a new job!!! Yes, that's right - no more 15-20 hour days 5-6 days a week with Syngenta, no more stuck inside a warehouse packing seeds, no more having a boss who doesn't invest in his emplyees. In two weeks, Chris will be done with Syngenta and ready to start working for a company called Professional Ag Services.
Professional Ag Services is a local company based out of Pasco that provides Irrigation Water Management/Scientific Irrigation Scheduling and Aerial Infrared & color photography to local growers and farmers in the Columbia Basin. Basically, this is right up Chris' alley and what he studied to do in school.
They have been in business since 1987 and Chris told me that the employee who is the newest (besides him) has worked there 10 years. I think this speaks a lot about their credibility and desire to retain employees with good agricultural experience.
He is so excited about this opportunity and I am excited to see him get to use his degree and have the freedom to try new things. He will still work long hours and probably Saturdays during the summer because that is the nature of agriculture but during the winter he will have a long break and still get paid for a 40 hour work week. Basically, the opposite schedule of a teacher! :)
Thank you for your prayers for him as he has searched and waited patiently to find a new job and opportunity.
A couple other prayer requests for the end of this week:
*My dad had an appointment with an eye specialist yesterday because he has a detached retina that occurred sometime right before Christmas. He will have cataract surgery on his eye today and retina surgery on April 12th. Pray for a full recovery and full vision to be restored.
*I got an e-mail from my half-sister Marie that her maternal grandmother passed away this morning. This would be my dad's former mother-in-law from his first marriage. She was in her 90s and in declining health but I know it will still be hard for her family. My parents have also maintained a relationship with her and her husband over the years and she was a neat lady. Pray for peace for that family during this time.
