Long Weekend: Day 1

We both really enjoyed our long Labor Day weekend. Taking Friday off was a great idea. We went kayaking!

It was a program set up by the Cities of Richland and Pasco. You meet at Columbia Point Park and get shuttled up to Leslie Groves Park where the kayaks are waiting. We put in the river and kayaked back to Columbia Point.

The water was so clear when we put in you could see all the way to the bottom. We saw birds, some fish jumping, and plenty of boaters along our way. The boats were fun as you could ride the wakes in the kayaks.

It took us about an hour and a half to get back to our starting point. My shoulders were sore by the end but it was so much fun I wanted to keep going. It was also a beautiful day and we really enjoyed the sun while out on the water. The kayaks were ones that you sit on top of instead of inside so we could stick our feet over the edge into the water if we got too hot. What fun!

After finishing up and loading the kayaks back up in the truck we enjoyed a delicious dinner at Anthony's which was included with the kayaking! It was a great dinner and a fun way to cap off our day.

I think they are planning to do this event again next summer so we're going to try and get a group of friends together to sign up for one day so we can kayak together. Let me know if you're interested.
